At a slight curve in the road, police said the eastbound Toyota Corolla crossed into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the cement truck. The truck driver was not able to stop in time and the Toyota hit the truck head-on.

A short time after the crash, the car and truck were both engulfed in flames.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him on Saturday as Cameron Gray of Federalsburg, Maryland.

According to their investigation, Clarissa Simmons, 20, of Richmond was driving a Buick Encore west on the interstate when she abruptly moved from the right lane to the left lane. Two tractor trailers, a Dodge Journey and a Toyota Camry were slowing down because of a previous collision when all four vehicles collided, according to Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to State Police, a Freightliner semi-truck was traveling west on I-40, near mile marker 156, where the 46-year-old driver slowed down for traffic backed up from a previous car crash. However, a 2005 Hyundai failed to slow down and rear-ended the semi.

As he was attempting to turn left on Clarks Hill Highway, a Dodge minivan struck the rear of his big-rig. . .

The driver of the minivan died at the scene of the crash.

. . . the driver of a 1996 Toyota 4Runner was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the 710 Freeway. The 4Runner collided with the freeway guardrail and subsequently collided with the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer that was traveling southbound. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene, extricated the driver of the 4Runner from his vehicle, and transported him to a local hospital. . .
