Manuel Alejandro Gonzalez, a 34-year-old resident of Chaparral, New Mexico, was killed after his Ford Raptor traveling at a high speed ran a red light at the intersection.

Gonzalez’s passenger Melissa Tristan, a 36-year-old Socorro resident, was injured in the crash.

According to state police, a 2022 Hyundai Sport, driven by Johnny E. Morris, 47, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, rear-ended a tractor-trailer while speeding. Morris was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Luis Castaneda, 34 of Amarillo, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that was reported around 3:45 a.m. on State High 349 about a mile north of Midland, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Investigators believe Castaneda was driving a 2022 Ford F-150 west on SH 349. Police say the crash involved a 2011 Ford F-150 and a 2009 Mack semi-truck. The driver of the F-150 was traveling south on U.S. 119 when she crossed the center line and her vehicle struck the semi head on.

According to preliminary investigation, an 18-wheeler failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2013 Toyota Highlander which went under the trailer of the 18-wheeler.
