According to the Energy Police Department, at around 8:06 a.m., a 2010 Ford Explorer driven by 30-year-old Ciara Corbitt, of Herrin, was going southbound on Route 148 in Energy, near the 300 block of N. Pershing Street.
They say the SUV crossed the center turn lane and hit the trailer of a northbound semi tractor trailer driven by Zachary Ramage of Anna, Ill. 1 dead after crash involving SUV, semi truck in Energy, Ill.
Because the bottom of a truck is higher than the bumper of passenger vehicles, when there is a collision the smaller vehicle easily slides under the truck and the first point of impact is the windshield. Seatbelts, airbags, and car crumple zones do not function as intended in underride crashes —front, side, and rear — leaving passenger vehicle occupants vulnerable to life-threatening injuries.

Note: In order to raise awareness and preserve the memories of underride victims — precious ones gone too soon — I have been writing memorial posts on what could potentially be underride crashes. I am not a crash reconstructionist, and I do not have all the facts on these crashes; but underride should be investigated as a potential factor in truck crash injuries and deaths.

As much as my Heart is broken, and will NEVER BE HEALED, I am trying to reach out to Zachary Ramage of Anna, Illinois. THIS POOR MAN IS NOT AT FAULT FOR CIARA’S PASSING!!!! PLEASE…ANYONE that can help me get in touch with him, do so. My Heart and Love of my baby girl Ciara Corbitt, WILL NOT LET ME REST until I speak with Zachary Ramage. Not a letter, a phone call!! PLEASE……ZACHARY is NOT AT FAULT!!!! Our Beautiful daughter went unconscious and verted into his Tractor tire. She never knew that she was even swerving across the lanes for at 3/4 off a mile, until she was gone. She died peacefully and did not suffer!!! PLEASE HELP ME
