Officials said 38-year-old Calvin Eugene Clopton of Pelham died early Saturday morning after his vehicle was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on I-59 in Argo. Clopton’s vehicle became engulfed by flames after the collision. Pelham man killed in fiery crash on I-59 in Argo

Former Elk Grove mayoral candidate Joel Broussard, 39, was killed in a crash when a big rig collided into 10 vehicles on Interstate 5 in south Sacramento on Tuesday evening.

The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of I-5 near Florin Road, the California Highway Patrol said. Man killed, 3 injured in crash on I-5 in south Sacramento

Because the bottom of a truck is higher than the bumper of passenger vehicles, when there is a collision the smaller vehicle easily slides under the truck and the first point of impact is the windshield. A 28-year-old Connecticut man who rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 395 near Exit 53 on Thursday died on the scene, state police said.

The crash happened shortly before 12:50 p.m., when Louis Chrisovechotis of the Dayville section of Killingly, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe north behind a rig.

Troopers said a 2017 International tractor-trailer was stopped in the northbound travel lane as the driver prepared to make a right turn. That’s when 27-year-old Julia Patton, of Carthage, Texas, slammed her 2017 Jeep SUV into the rear of the 18-wheeler. . .

Patton and her front-seat passenger, identified as 18-year-old Jaylie Gray of Galveston, Texas, were unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries. . .

A 33-year-old Washington, D.C. woman was killed Saturday after her vehicle was hit from behind on Interstate 95 by a tractor-trailer that came upon stopped traffic and lost control, striking the guardrail and then two vehicles, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at 10:11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the 161 mile marker, state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in a news release.

The tractor-trailer was traveling south when the driver came upon stopped traffic and lost control, ran off the left side of I-95, struck the guardrail and then continued down the shoulder, scraping the guardrail and striking two cars.

Indiana State Police say 32-year-old Ashley Williams, of Marshall, Illinois was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash on Interstate 70.

According to troopers, a semi tractor-trailer driven by 54-year-old Sergiy S. Shadrin, 54, of Newmarket, Ontario, was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 in the driving lane near the state line with its hazard lights activated because of slow traffic. Shadrin told police he felt an impact in the rear of his semi and immediately stopped.

According to police, a 2011 Jeep driven by Williams was traveling westbound in the driving lane directly behind the semi tractor-trailer and failed to observe slowed traffic, running into the rear of Shadrin’s semi-tractor trailer. Williams died from her injuries at the scene.

We learned that the Illinois woman who was killed in a semi versus vehicle accident this morning on Route 1 in Marshall was a Lincoln Trail College student and member of the softball team. . .

According to the Illinois State Police 20 year old Audria Truelove, of Martinsville, Illinois was traveling behind a semi-truck driven by 39 year old Rahshawn Jordan of Maryland.

When Jordan slowed down due to feeling ill, ISP says Truelove did not slow down and struck the back of the trailer, causing the fatal accident.

. . . the tractor-trailer was backing into a residential driveway on Route 460. The tractor-trailer was blocking the road and the 95-year-old, Rufus Murry Wilson, struck the tractor-trailer on the side with his Chevrolet Silverado.

One person was killed in an early morning crash in Kosciusko County. It happened shortly before 7 a.m. at U.S. 30 and 350 West between Warsaw and Atwood.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says a passenger vehicle had under rode a semi-trailer. According to witness statements the Peterbilt Semi was traveling from northbound 350 West onto Westbound US 30 and was slowing or stopping in the median. The Peterbilt’s trailer was then struck by an eastbound Dodge passenger vehicle.
