llinois state police said that 19-year-old Cole Young was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan around 9 a.m. on Friday, with 20-year-old Marsada “Sadi” Connors as his only passenger.

A tractor trailer headed west on I-70 veered onto the median and then into oncoming traffic, first hitting a trailer being towed by a Chevy pickup, before plowing into the minivan and sending both the tractor trailer and the van into a ditch, according to troopers.

The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Spencer Thomas Wilson. Wilson was pronounced dead today at 6 p.m. at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. 

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened near the 26 mile marker on I-26. Troopers said the driver of a tractor trailer was stopped facing west on I-26 when Wilson, also traveling west, hit the trailer in the rear. Police say 36-year-old Christopher Welter, of Medford, Massachusetts, was heading east on Central Avenue in a Hyundai. That’s when he crashed into the back of a box tractor trailer that was stopped at a light at Jupiter Lane.

Grant County authorities said a semi-truck driver was backing into a farm driveway on County Road T when the victim, 18-year-old Travis A. Denner, of Boscobel, was driving around a nearby corner. Authorities said Denner failed to negotiate the curve in the road and didn’t see the semi. A 2013 Fiat 500 was heading south on the interstate when it collided with a 2022 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer was also heading south and was slowing down to take an exit ramp, according to a news release.
