In Memory of James Goins (May 5, 2021)

James Goins Jr., 45, died in the crash around midnight on I-24EB near Murfreesboro Pike.

Police said a tractor trailer, driven by a 57-year-old, had slowed for construction work on I-24 when the tractor trailer was struck from behind by a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Goins. Police identify Nashville man killed in crash on I-24 involving tractor trailer

Because the bottom of a truck is higher than the bumper of passenger vehicles, when there is a collision the smaller vehicle easily slides under the truck and the first point of impact is the windshield. Seatbelts, airbags, and car crumple zones do not function as intended in underride crashes —frontside, and rear — leaving passenger vehicle occupants vulnerable to life-threatening injuries.

In Memory of Hernane Ribeiro (April 29, 2021)

Troopers. . .. found Hernane Ribeiro, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, suffering from serious injuries, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Ribeiro was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in Ribeiro’s Accent, a 19-year-old woman from Brockton, suffered minor injuries.

In Memory of Ethan Angerami & John Hibbard (May 2, 2021)

Illinois State Police reported Ethan Angerami, 19, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was driving a gray 2015 Ford truck west when he left the roadway to the right near milepost 122 and struck the right rear of a blue 2020 Freightlinger truck-tractor semitrailer driven by Rodney Rice, 56, of Chillicothe, Texas, that was parked on the shoulder. The accident occurred at 6:04 a.m.

A 31-year-old woman died Thursday after the car she was driving hit a tractor trailer, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

In Memory of Jamie Pallviny-Brown (April 29, 2021)

The passenger killed in Thursday’s fatal crash near Portland International Airport is identified as Jamie R. Pallviny-Brown, 43. Her family has been notified of her death.

The investigation reveals that she was in the passenger seat of a 1995 Ford Mustang convertible (photo) when it crashed into a Freightliner tractor with a box trailer. Evidence at the scene indicates the Mustang was traveling west on Northeast Cornfoot Road at a high rate of speed and collided with the broadside of the trailer, in front of the rear wheels, as it was pulling out of a driveway. The Mustang went under the trailer and came out the other side.
