In Memory of Frank Orlando, Jr. (September 14, 2020)

Frank Orlando Jr., 26, of Wantage, was headed west about 8:30 p.m. near milepost 46.3 in Parsippany-Troy Hills when he struck the rear of the stopped truck, according to New Jersey State Police.

Orlando died at the scene. His passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Newton, and the 57-year-old driver of the truck, both suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. . . N.J. man, 26, dies after his pickup slams into construction truck stopped on highway, cops say

Seatbelts, airbags, and car crumple zones do not function as intended in underride crashes — leaving passenger vehicle occupants vulnerable to life-threatening injuries.

Petition: Congress, Act Now To End Deadly Truck Underrides

Note: In order to raise awareness and preserve the memories of underride victims — precious ones gone too soon — I have been writing memorial posts on what appear to me to be underride crashes. I am not a crash reconstructionist, and I do not have all the facts on these crashes; but underride should be investigated as a potential factor in truck crash injuries and deaths.

    1. I understand and am thankful that I can help to preserve his memory. As I began my journey of grief for my daughters, AnnaLeah & Mary, it was important to me that they not be forgotten – that memories of them, bittersweet though they are, be treasured. So many events in daily life trigger sorrow that they could not share in it or make more memories of their own.

Writing these things down became important to me and so I wrote https://annaleahmary.com/journey-through-grief/

As I wrote in the post, I am more than willing to add photos or special memories to Frank’s memorial post to help those who have just begun their journey of grief for another underride victim whose life was needlessly snuffed out way too soon.
